Privacy Policy

Effective 14 October 2026

Short version: Soma does not collect your data. Your lab results, the PDFs you import and everything the app works out from them stay on your phone. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.

Who we are

What stays on your phone

• Lab reports (PDF files) you import, and the values read from them.
• Reading the PDF — including recognising text on scanned pages — happens on the device. The file is not uploaded anywhere.
• The raw text of a report, which contains your name and ID numbers, is discarded after reading; only the result rows you confirm are stored.
• Health data you allow Soma to read from Apple Health or Health Connect (for example resting heart rate or sleep), when that feature is available. It is read on the device, never sent to us, and never used for advertising or sold.

We have no servers that store user data, and we cannot see your data.

When Soma uses the internet

Only when you ask it to:

• Downloading the optional on-device assistant model. The model file is downloaded from a public host (Hugging Face). Like any download, the host sees your IP address. None of your health data is sent.
• Connecting a device account (for example Withings), if you choose to. Data then travels directly between your phone and that company. The sign-in tokens pass through a small service of ours that adds the app's credentials; it does not log or store them and never receives your health data. That company's own privacy policy applies to the data it holds.
• Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple or Google. We receive no payment details.

Backups and export

Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Android backup) may include Soma's data, according to your phone's settings. If you export your data, the file goes wherever you choose to save or send it.

Your control

• Delete any report inside the app; its values are removed with it.
• Deleting the app removes all its data from the phone.
• Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. Write to us if you have any question.

Children

Soma is intended for adults and is not directed at children.

Medical information

Soma organises and charts your results against your lab's reference ranges. It does not diagnose, and nothing in it is medical advice.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
